Social electricity tariff — are you eligible?

Screen your household against the Tarifa Social de Energia Elétrica (TSEE, Social Electricity Tariff) rules and estimate how free electricity for the first 80 kWh reduces the tariff portion of your bill.
Meeting any one of these conditions is enough
- a CadÚnico household with monthly income per person up to half a minimum wage;
- a household with a person aged 65+ or a person with a disability receiving BPC;
- a CadÚnico household with total monthly income up to three minimum wages and a person who continuously depends on electrical equipment for medical treatment.
Indigenous and Quilombola households must be registered in CadÚnico and meet the relevant income rule. Enrollment is automatic, but outdated records or an unlinked address may prevent recognition.

Is your household registered in CadÚnico?
The record must be current and linked to the people in the household.
Is monthly income per person up to half a minimum wage?
Add the household income counted in CadÚnico and divide it by the number of people.
Does anyone in the household receive BPC for age or disability?
BPC is the continuous cash benefit paid to a person aged 65+ or a person with a disability.
Is total monthly household income up to three minimum wages?
This threshold applies only to the medical-treatment route involving essential electrical equipment.
Does anyone continuously use electrical equipment essential to medical treatment?
The health condition and need for the device must be documented under the utility’s procedure.

This is an informational screening. The benefit depends on matching CadÚnico/BPC data with the consumer unit and utility validation; keep the address and records current.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Social Electricity Tariff make the entire bill free?
Not necessarily. The rule gives a 100% discount on the tariff portion of the first 80 kWh. Public lighting, ICMS under state law and other items may remain; consumption above 80 kWh receives no TSEE discount.
Do the former 65%, 40% and 10% discounts still apply?
No. Law 15,235/2025 replaced the progressive tiers. Since July 5, 2025, the first 80 kWh receive a 100% discount and excess consumption receives 0%. The special Indigenous and Quilombola threshold also rose from 50 to 80 kWh.
Do I have to apply for the benefit?
Enrollment is generally automatic under Law 14,203/2021. If the benefit is missing, check whether CadÚnico is current and whether the beneficiary is linked to the consumer unit; contact the utility when the records do not match.
Can a household outside TSEE receive another discount?
Yes. Since January 1, 2026, CadÚnico households with monthly per-person income above half and up to one minimum wage may receive the Social Discount, which exempts the CDE charge on consumption up to 120 kWh. This simulator does not calculate that component.
